AN OBSESSIVE PURSUIT FOR STYLE AND UNIQUENESS
Italian perfumer with a rich and diverse background, Luca grew up in the family business where he discovered and lived through the explosion of Fine Perfumery in the 1990s, becoming a true icon of style and luxury worldwide. After studying economics, he pursued perfumery at the Roure school in Grasse, graduating in 2010.
Luca Maffei co-founded Atelier Fragranze Milano with his father in 2011, drawing inspiration from major composition houses and adapting them to our times, experimenting with a more human, agile, and efficient approach to perfumery. Some of his creations, such as Black Pepper & Sandalwood for Acca Kappa and Nea for JUL AND MAD Paris, won the Independent category at the Art and Olfaction Awards in 2015 and 2016 in Los Angeles. Passionate about fashion and lifestyle, he has also created several perfumes for Jacques Fath, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Trussardi.
In an effective and creative partnership with Antoine Lie, they share the same vision of a transparent and vibrant perfumery. They also share a similar creative process that allows them to translate clients' desires into fragrances and cultivate a close collaboration.
For Luca, Creative Dialogue involves interpreting a new story every day, listening carefully to the client's request to absorb their vision of perfumery and tell a genuine tale. He sees creative dialogue as the exchange between a director and an actor before a scene.
